A candle maker probably shouldn’t admit she has a favorite.
I made five new fall scents this year, and I genuinely love what each one brings to the collection. But if you walked into my house and asked which one I had burning, there is a very good chance it would be Apple Maple Bourbon.
There. I said it. The others can take it up with management.
Not another apple-cinnamon candle
Apple candles can go wrong surprisingly fast. Too much sweetness and they smell like frosting. Too much spice and suddenly your house has been taken hostage by a craft store in October.
Apple Maple Bourbon starts with apple, cinnamon, and a small hint of orange. That little bit of brightness matters: it keeps the opening lively before the deeper notes arrive.
Then come the buttery bourbon, sweet maple, and vanilla. They settle underneath the apple and give the fragrance warmth and depth without turning it into a heavy sugar bomb.
The result smells like something wonderful has been baking, but it has a smoother, more grown-up finish. It is cozy enough for a slow evening at home and polished enough for company.
Why this one became my favorite
I like products that feel familiar without being predictable. Apple and warm spice immediately say fall, but the bourbon, maple, and touch of orange keep this candle from smelling like every seasonal candle you have met before.
It is rich without shouting. Sweet without becoming childish. Comfortable, but still interesting.
That balance is exactly what I wanted from it—and exactly why I keep coming back to it.
The responsible part still matters
Each Apple Maple Bourbon candle is hand-poured in frosted glass with a soy-coconut wax blend and two wicks. I made five in the first pour, but only four are sellable. One stays with me as the test-burn candle so I can watch how the wax, wicks, and fragrance perform together.
That may not be the glamorous part of candle making, but it is an important one. A simple luxury should still be made responsibly. That part is not negotiable.
Who will love it
If you enjoy bakery scents but are tired of straight pumpkin, overwhelming cinnamon, or fragrances that are simply sweet, Apple Maple Bourbon may be your candle.
It is especially lovely in a kitchen or dining room, during a fall gathering, or on an ordinary evening when you want the house to feel warmer than the day did.
And yes, it also makes a very good hostess or housewarming gift—assuming you can bring yourself to give it away.
